Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced ServiceNow Discovery Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have in-depth expertise with ServiceNow Discovery, including troubleshooting discovery issues, resolving MID Server challenges, and managing discovery-related integrations. The role is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of ServiceNow Discovery processes to support enterprise IT visibility, asset management, and CMDB health.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer and configure ServiceNow Discovery, ensuring accurate and reliable data collection for the CMDB.
Troubleshoot and resolve discovery issues (patterns, probes, sensors) and MID Server performance or communication challenges.
Support integrations between ServiceNow Discovery and other systems/tools for seamless data flow and IT operations.
Monitor, analyze, and optimize discovery schedules, performance, and results to ensure the stability and reliability of the environment.
Collaborate with IT teams, developers, and stakeholders to identify requirements, improve discovery processes, and maintain CMDB accuracy.
Perform regular MID Server maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting to ensure high availability.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, governance, and best practices for ServiceNow Discovery.
Work closely with ServiceNow developers and CMDB teams to align discovery outcomes with business goals.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
3+ years of hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting ServiceNow Discovery.
Strong understanding of MID Servers: installation, maintenance, and debugging.
Proficiency in resolving discovery issues, including patterns, credentials, and network-based challenges.
Experience integrating ServiceNow Discovery with other IT systems (e.g., monitoring tools, cloud services, asset management systems).
Solid knowledge of ServiceNow CMDB structure, configuration items (CIs), and ITSM processes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify root causes and recommend effective solutions.
Familiarity with IP networks, protocols (SSH, WMI, SNMP, HTTPS), and credentials used for discovery.
ServiceNow Discovery certification or related ServiceNow credentials (preferred).
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with cloud discovery (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Familiarity with Service Mapping and other ServiceNow ITOM capabilities.
Strong scripting knowledge (JavaScript, PowerShell, or Python).
ITIL v3 or v4 certification is a plus.
